The staff at Affordable Affairs Catering

Affordable Affairs Catering is owned and operated by longtime restaurateur and chef David Tep of the award-winning Tep's Villa Roma family restaurants and catering services (located in New Jersey, South Lake Tahoe, and San Diego). David played a key role in the Tep family's South Lake Tahoe Weddings catering service and later became the sole operator of Tep's Catering Service in San Diego.

David began his 35-year career in the restaurant and food industry when his father opened the first Tep's restaurant in Linden, New Jersey in 1963. He was only four years old when he started learning the restaurant business by accompanying his father to work. By age seven, David started working in the kitchen and learning about prep work, pastas, and pizzas. Soon he moved on to learn exquisite preparations of poultry, beef, and veal. Additionally, he learned to prepare East Coast seafood delicacies such as lobster, clams, mussels, and scungilli.

In 1975, the family moved to South Lake Tahoe to live in one of the most beautiful places in the world and to pursue their passion for skiing and water sports. Here David worked side by side with his father, opening what remains to this day the most famous Italian and seafood restaurant north of San Francisco. In 1981, David and his parents opened the next Tep's Villa Roma in San Diego near Mission Bay. David solely owned and managed this location and the San Diego Tep's Villa Roma quickly became one of the most popular Italian and seafood restaurants in the county.

To promote off-premises catering, David expanded the San Diego business to include Tep's Catering Service, where it became necessary to learn many other ethnic styles of cooking. David realized his true passion lay in the catering business and decided to devote his entire life of restaurant expertise to catering for the San Diego area!!! His individual enterprise, Affordable Affairs Catering, is sure to provide clients with the same high standards of food, service, and value David has always known. As David's new motto states,

"MAKE IT GREAT, GIVE 'EM PLENTY AND DON'T CHARGE A LOT."
